LTC Dan Wilson enlisted in the United States Army in 1984, and served four years in the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Lewis, Washington.  Upon completion of his term of service, LTC Wilson enrolled in the ROTC program at San Diego State University, where he graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry in June 1991.

                LTC Wilson’s first assignment was as a Rifle Platoon Leader in the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment at Fort Ord, California.  He subsequently returned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and served from 1993 to 1996 as a Ranger Rifle Platoon Leader and Battalion S-5.  After completion of the Infantry Officer Advanced Course, LTC Wilson served tours at Fort Benning, Georgia as a Senior Platoon Trainer at the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Battalion S-1 and Mechanized Infantry Company Commander in the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, and Battalion S-3 Air and Ranger Rifle Company Commander in the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he participated in initial combat operations in Afghanistan following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

                In 2003, following attendance at the Command and General Staff College, LTC Wilson was assigned to the 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.  After initially serving as the Brigade S-4, LTC Wilson was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment “Wolfhounds” where he served as the Battalion S-3 for combat operations in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

                Upon redeployment in 2005, LTC Wilson assumed duties as the Battalion Executive Officer for the Wolfhounds and oversaw the battalion’s recovery from combat operations, transformation as part of an Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and preparation for redeployment to combat operations. During his most recent deployment LTC Wilson commanded the Enhanced Military Transition Team (MiTT) for the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Since December 2007, LTC Wilson has served as the commander of Detachment 4, Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

                LTC Wilson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medals, the Master Parachutist Badge with combat jump star, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Ranger Tab, and the Military Freefall Parachutist’s Badge.

                LTC Wilson is married to the former Debbie Bishop of Goldendale, Washington, and they have two children, Kristin 17 and Evan 14.
